Top Marketing Trends for 2021

Let’s put 2020 behind us. It was a tough year and we’re looking forward to whatever 2021 has to offer. With that in mind, we’ve been scratching our heads and scouring the web to decipher what the big trends in marketing might be over the next 12 months. Will the last year dictate what’s to come? Let’s find out.

Video Killed the Radio Star

Video is going to be taking centre stage in the year’s marketing developments, so it might not be the time to develop camera-shyness. Live video has boomed as a way of getting your message out there over the last year. That does come in lots of flavours though: Live webinars, AMAs, small – more intimate sessions and masterclasses are all looking to trend in the near future.

Interactive approaches like AMAs and masterclasses might just be the way forward for high ROI video. You can have an open discussion with those involved about your services and easily get across your values, branding and character.

Key Products and Services

We think that there’s going to be a ‘lean’ approach to marketing in the year ahead. Keeping budgets tight and focusing on key buyer personas and high ROI content. Gone are the days of low reward, fluffy content that’s difficult to measure the return of (well, for a few months anyway).

This might look like high value content that links directly with new product launches or milestones for services that you’ve recently hit.

SEO x Multiplied

SEO matters. There’s no way around it. If you want buyers to find you, you’d better have some good, high quality SEO in place. But, with some gigantic, key players hogging the top SEO keywords, what approach can you take? Well, it’s nothing revolutionary, but an extra focus on niche and long-tail keywords is going to be important if you want those buyers who are ready to go, to find you.

There are, of course, many more trends that are likely to kick off in 2021: AI powered content, repurposed content, content communities and an overall improved content experience to name just a few. What do you think is going to be a key marketing trend in the year ahead? We’d love to hear from you, get in touch here.
